Chloe is now experiencing the after effects of flu, fever is gone but now she’s starting to cough.

There’s phlegm in her throat, when she cough, the phlegm will cause her to choke and puke. The thing is, she refuses to spit out the phlegm, she will swallow it back then she will cry badly after.

Not quite sure why she’s afraid to spit out the phlegm.We kept telling her to spit out but she just refuses.

Bought her medicine from Eu Yan Sang, it’s for cough & phlegm, it works for her the last time so I got her the same. Chloe always prefer TCM than western medicine, I almost always have to force feed her when it comes to western medicine.

She recognises the bottle that contains the powder, she will get excited while watching me prepare the medicine and will finishes every single drop.

I’m not a fan of TCM, I don’t like bitterness….her liking for it must be hubby’s gene.

I have stopped Chloe’s lessons at LNT (Little Neuro Tree), I’m a bit bored by the program cos Kate was in Year 2 classes so I knew what they are going to be teaching.

We will continue to do flash cards, memory, sensory play at home, it’s something that we have been doing even before attending LNT. I’m not saying LNT is not good, in fact, I like their program, they have ideas and stuffs that I never thought of before and it sort of inspire us to do the similar teachings when at home. The program also allows parent and child to bond thru activities. Her end of terms comments from individual teachers were really good, well I know that the teachers will only comment the good and not bad cos they are still so young but I still can’t help feeling proud. The centre one is from her Jap teacher, only 1 sentence saying that Chloe is very good in her concentration. That is one of her strength, she hardly move about when in class, she will listen attentively to the teachers.

Another reason why I want to change school will be too little movement in LNT”s classes, we have to sit throughout the 1 hour lesson. I hope to find a program that involves more movement.

After looking around, I decided to put Chloe into Julia Gabriel (Bilingual Playclub). Had initially choose to take the lesson from Forum but they only have Sunday class and they have a long wait list for the 11.30am timing that I want.

They called me on last Thursday to tell me that they have slot for Sunday, 9.00am class but I have no confident that I can reach class on time. What if I happen to be staying the weekend at CCK or Chloe wakes up late, I will surely be late for class, I didn’t like the uncertainties and it will be rushing as well.

Next choice will be to take the class at the Evans Road branch, they have slot 11.30am class and even better, they have Saturday classes. The only bad thing is, I don’t know where is Evans Road….I know it’s somewhere near to Bukit Timah. So on Saturday we went to find the place, firstly is to check out the environment of the school. Secondly, to find out the exact location so that I don’t have to be searching for it on the first day of school. Thirdly, to know how much time I will need to drive there.

Found the school, like the place so went ahead to pay the school fees (ouch!). Term will be starting this coming Saturday. They even have a little library where we can borrow books from.

We also managed to put Kate (who will be attending Edudrama) at 12pm slot in the same school (she was also on wait list at Forum). SIL & Kate will follow my car to school and go to the library to wait for her class to start.

After a hectic weekend over Xmas, I had initially thought I will try to stay home as much as possible over the New Year’s long weekend. That is why when Jan ask me what am I doing over the long weekend, my answer was…”to stay at home and rot”.

That was the plan, as usual, we never follow plan. Friday was spent over at ah gong place, Chloe was recovering from her fever so she was whiny constantly. Whiny child that cannot speak full sentences are very hard to take care, they constantly speaks to you in alien language and gets frustrated when you don’t understand what they are saying.

As for Saturday, we went to breakfast then to Farmart to pay deposit for the balloons that my SIL ordered for Enya’s 1st birthday party. SIL requested for 3 walking pets for the kids so we brought them to choose. No prize for guessing what animal Chloe chose as her walking pet, yes, it’s duck again…

The rest of the Saturday was spent going to Julia Gabriel to pay for their school fees, went to Great World City to find shoes for Enya then to Seng Kang to pass the figurines to the baker whom my SIL ordered Enya’s cake from.

Photo taken after we reached home from the long day of running errands, she missed her duck so much that she had to  “walk” her duck the moment she remove her shoes. When I tell her that I’m going to take photo of her with the duck, she happily pose for me.

She’s so in love with duck that she “walked” the duck wherever she goes, even when she bathe, the duck had to “sit” and wait outside the bathroom. I had to limit her to home only, duck not allow to leave the house, also not allowed to sleep with her (I told her the duck had to sleep with the other 2 animals, which she believes me).

The innocence of kids….heehee.

Reached the last day of 2009, this year consider smooth sailing.

I got no big resolutions for next year, just hope to love more, hate less, more patience and less frustrations.

Most important will be to stay positive and to set a good example for Chloe.

Chloe running fever again for no reasons. Usually she will fall sick becos someone at home is sick and the virus spread to her.

Yesterday’s temperature was still ok, 37 – 37.5 del cel. Gave her another dose of paracetamol at 3am, change her cooling pad. She was still sbit feverish but was chirpy when I left for work.

Just now, mum called to tell me that her fever suddenly shoots up to 38.8 deg and she starts to become lethargic.

Asked mum to give her a shot of Bhufen, hopefully the fever till drop after that.

Yesterday night, we brought the kids downstairs to play bubbles as my brother bought them new bubbles gun.

Then an accident happened when Kate was swinging her bubbles gun and Chloe ran into it. The gun hit Chloe’s mouth and cut her lip, at the exact same spot as her previous fall. Blood were gushing out fast, I panicked a bit and quickly pick Chloe up and ran home. Upon reaching, we quickly applied sugar on her lips to stop the bleeding.

After hugging her for awhile, she stopped crying…..guess what came out of her mouth next? She kept chanting “bubbles, bubbles” and struggled to get release from my arms, she actually wanted to go back to play bubbles.

Sigh…..isn’t she suppose to be in pain? Guess at that moment, playing bubbles is more important.

Saw this outside Mothercare Paragon when I was there last Sunday, such a short paragraph but managed to summarize parenthood.

is Chloe’s latest favourite word.

She loves it so much so that she will try to create situation just so that she can use the word.

Example 1 – she will purposely put her feet in between the cot’s railings then say “help! help! help!” and no, it’s not because she can’t remove them.

Example 2 – she will try to climb down bed or sofa, with her body still on said bed/sofa, legs hanging in mid air and shout “help!”

It’s funny but at the same time embarrassing cos she use it even when she’s outside. Sometimes she shout it so loud that other people will turn and stare, hopefully they don’t think I’m torturing her…. -_-

Just like last year, we arranged to have a Xmas party at my parent’s place. We don’t celebrate Xmas before the kids came along…..I see it as a nice excuse for the family to gather.

We ordered some food from NTUC and cooked the rest. It was hectic to prepare everything, all cooking done by me and my SIL, thankfully my mum helped to take care of the kids so we can cooked in peace.

Hopefully everyone who came enjoyed!

Told hubby that I don’t want to buy expensive presents for Xmas, wants to let Chloe understand that although she receive presents yearly, it’s not to be taken for granted. I don’t want her growing up expecting more expensive present than the year before, yes, she might not understand now but no harm starting the habit early,  Furthermore, her birthday is in Feb, if she is to receive a big present, I rather do it during her birthday.

I watched a show called Jon & Kate plus 8, during Xmas, they will buy presents (chosen by their kids) and donate it to less fortunate kids, I like the idea a lot and hopes to do the same next year. Chloe will be almost 3 then and I will be able to explain to her the meaning of giving.

Xmas party with buddies this year is at my place, it’s a routine that we take turns to go each other’s house every year.

Simple dinner with sushi and Xmas stuffs from Cold Storage, the ribs and sushi are nice. Elaine made dessert too. I guess we sort of agree on ordering from Cold Storage next year as all of us enjoyed the food. Jan bought a pizza for the kids, in case they don’t like the food we ordered.

The wonderful thing of being with your closest friends is that although it’s a not a fancy party, you will enjoy just because of each other’s company. We had a wonderful night.

Only remembered to take photos of the honey baked ham & sushi. Later on, I was too busy to take photos. The other photos are taken during the distributing of gifts. See how Chloe patiently wait (without disturbance at all) for hubby to fix up her new toy for her. Rarely seeing her with such patience.

Kate: Ye Ye (grandpa), are you not working today?

Dad: Yes, I’m not working today, it’s my off day.

Kate: Later you bring me to playground?

Dad: No, we can’t go cos it’s raining so the playground is wet.

Kate: But can ask Ma Ma (grandma) to use paper to clean the playground.
